THE ABC’s OF JAZZ SINGING
Jazz singing: Where to start?
When: Thursday,
October 18th – 7 to 10 p.m. 953 Gladstone Ave, Ottawa
Cost: $ 30
Every vocalist can sing a jazz standard. But having an understanding of how it works is another story. Musicians expect vocalists to be able to communicate what they want and to speak the same music language.
We will demystify a lot of jazz expressions, learn what is the structure of a jazz standard, what kind of intros and endings are best for a medium swing or a ballad or a Latin feel, how to count a tune according to the style, etc.
We will do some listening and some singing
too!
Nicole Ratté has been teaching jazz workshops since 2004 and has prepared participants to jazz camp and jam sessions since then. More details about her at www.nicoleratte.com.

Jazz
Club – Vocal Jazz Workshop (in French)
Vocal
technique, stage presence, how to work with musicians, exploration of jazz
repertoire, etc. Every week, all the participants will sing their song and
receive coaching. We will have guests musicians and we will organize small
concerts. A bigger show will be held at the end of the session. Social
activities will be organized.
