Nicholas has also been actively recording, contributing to albums by Solomon Douglas Swingtet, The Yohawks, That’s The Spirit, SoulJazz Orchestra ('Rising Sun' 2011 JUNO nomination, Instrumental Album of the Year), Phil Motion & The Easy LO-Fi, The Orienteers and Slim Moore & the Mar-Kays, plus a live concert recording for Radio Canada with Los Gringos.
In addition to maintaining a busy trumpet studio, Nicholas is the director of Capital Youth Jazz Orchestra. CYJO is an educationally driven jazz big band, made up primarily of students from area universities that made their debut in April 2009, and featured the music of Billy Strayhorn, Duke Ellington, Freddie Hubbard and Paquito D'Rivera in their most recent outing . Nicholas is also on the faculty of Carleton University Jazz Camp and hosts Trumpet Bootcamp at Alcorn Music Studios.

Nicholas
Dyson is one of the busiest trumpeters in Canada’s Capital region. He
performs reguarly with latin-jazz band Los Gringos, Slim Moore and the Mar-Kays,
Phil Motion & the Easy LO-fi and Mike Essoudry's Mash Potato Mashers, as
well as being a regular guest Lead Trumpet with the National Arts Centre
Orchestra Pops, and musical theatre shows such as A Chorus Line, The Sound
of Music and The Producers. Other artists Nicholas has worked with include
Dave Brubeck, Roy Hargrove Big Band, Gladys Knight, Natalie Cole, Deborah
Gibson, Cynthia Dale, Nikki Yanofsky, Bob DeAngelis, The Temptations, The
Coasters, The Platters, Solomon Douglas Swingtet, SoulJazz Orchestra, and
That’s The Spirit.
